It’s been a while since I have posted a Sunday Show ‘n’ Tell, but since this is the first weekend of August and my birthday month (August 28th). I’m ready to start celebrating the little things that make life a joy and feel worth living despite all the hardship taking place around us.
I have been in a bit of a dark place where my emotions are concerned lately, because of not putting on the full armor of God as my shield and protection in dealing with the challenges that have been coming my way.
Sunday Show ‘n’ Tell is just my way of sharing some of my happy moments with you, as well as a reminder that we have a lot to be thankful for.
It’s a place I’d like to share my and my family’s creativity, passions and memories. Thanks for dropping by and I hope you enjoy, also please feel free to check my first post from another blog series “Art, Poetry & Inspiration Mondays” where I will be sharing some of my original poetry, as well as artwork from myself or other artist, inspirational quotes, songs & bible verses, etc. I will be focusing on one particular theme each post. This week’s theme is the word “Worry” and why we shouldn’t. Check it out, when you can.
Now let’s get started. This Sunday Show ‘n’ Tell Theme is “Happy Days of Summer- Part 1.”
I love that my children know how to be creative and come up with all kinds of creative ways to have fun, inside and outside. Along with riding their bikes, they also have taken to bug watching, digging in dirt and creating interesting sculptures. Here are their stick and rock sculptures below.
This is a really interesting looking stick sculpture.
Apparently, this is a sculpture of their little baby brother.
This is a crocodile sculpture.
We celebrated my firecracker toddler’s 2nd birthday in June. I wanted to make him a 3D Thomas the Engine birthday cake, because he loves Thomas and trains. It didn’t work out for many reasons so we had to settle for an ordinary store bought cake. We had cake and ice cream, and my toddler enjoyed that special treat. Maybe I can do Thomas for him next year.

We caught a glimpse of this little creature and snapped a photo. This is the first time I have ever seen a caterpillar that looks like that. I wonder what kind of caterpillar it is?
Check out this delicious looking meat on the grill. This was the 4th July.
More good summer eats and outdoor eating in the backyard! Yey!
Having fire pit fun. This is our first time using and having a fire pit.
We used it to roast marshmallows and make S’mores.
We used it to roast hot dogs for breakfast.
We also had bubble fun in our backyard.
Check out this old rusty Mongoose bike made new with new parts, new wheels, and new paint. Unfortunately, I didn’t think before my husband started this project to take a before picture, but I can’t believe it is the same bike. He refurbished it just for me, hence the yellow. I call it my sunflower bike, which goes beautifully with my sunflower house. No excuse. Time to get fit!
So this summer for our family is not about away from home vacations, theme park trips or days at the beach, but about simply enjoying our new home, backyard and neighborhood. Having our new home is truly a blessing from God and something to be very thankful for. How is your summer going?
I agree, it is the little things right in our own backyard that bring joy. Wonderful things to be grateful for and to make memories. Happy Weekend!
What fun summer stuff!
I love all of your pictures. That cook out makes me hungry, and I’m thinking I need a fire pit!
Came over on Soul Survivor today, and I’m glad to find your site.
Hope you have a blessed Monday~
Melanie
