1 Timothy 4:12 (New International Version)

12Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

This was always my favorite bible verse, as I am sure it is for most young people who read the bible. Let me tell you what these words mean to me.

As a teenager, it meant that even though I am a young person, I have a right to stand up for what I believe and because I am young that does not necessarily mean that what I believe in and who I believe in is wrong.

It also means that I don’t have to follow the example of wrong-doers because they are older; personally I don’t think older automatically equals smarter or wiser.

So my advice to young Christians are don’t question yourself because you see life differently to your mother, father or someone you expected to be wiser because they are older in years, if God has place a message, mission or vision on your heart; then stand up tall; let your light shine and your voice be heard. It is perfectly acceptable in God’s Kingdom to be wise beyond your years and all in your life and around you will just have to accept and respect that or remove themselves from your path.
