Well, even though it hasn’t fully started to feel like Spring where I live. I know its coming, a new beautiful awakening is coming. Change is coming to my life and beauty is coming all around. We’ll see God’s creatures flittering and running around, beautiful colors everywhere, flowers blossoming. I’m excited. So let me share a poem I wrote about Spring. I haven’t had much practice with nature poems, but I think its alright.

Thank You God For Spring

Dear God,

Thank you for winter

To cool and water the earth

To give animals and plants time to rest

Until spring’s rebirth

Dear God,

Thank you for Spring

Sunshine and Rain

When flowers, animals and plants

Join us again

Thank you God for spring

Cool beautiful days

After a long treacherous winter

I appreciate its beauty in so many ways

Thank you God for the bloom of new flowers

I could take in their aroma and essence for hours and hours

Thank you God for Earth’s healing powers

Thank you God for rainy days

I’d dance in the rain

And bask in sun’s rays

Thank you God for walks in the park between the trees

Thank you God for buzzing bees

Feeding on nectar, making honey

Scattering pollen, when days are sunny

God, let us remember the importance of these

What would our Earth be like without the presence of bees?

Thank you God for bright and sunny days

The bright floral colors of Spring

Thank you God for this wonderful seasonal blessing

I Wanna

I wanna sing
High above the mountaintops

I wanna dance
All day long, don’t ever stop

I wanna run
Till I reach the sun

I wanna keep dreaming
I wanna have fun

I wanna inspire
I wanna touch souls

I wanna grow closer to God
I wanna know Jesus
His message unfold

I wanna love and be loved
Love God, myself, others, this world
Be transformed into a woman
No longer a girl

I wanna be a blessing
I wanna give
I wanna reach high
Touch the sky
I wanna live

Lord, help me to be
The woman you designed me to be

Toxic

Toxic voices in my head
Burning its way through my soul
Until it’s dead

Poisonous words I hear them say
Stealing my joy from day to day

I wish there was someway
To get them out
I can hear them scream
I can hear them shout

“You suck”
“You’re no good”
“You have no worth”
Those liars fill me up with a mental curse

I wish I’d never let them in
These toxic voices roaming within
Within my mind
Within my soul
To my demise they will play a vital role

What is Proposition 8?

Wikipedia Definition:

Proposition 8 is a California State ballot proposition that would amend the state Constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to a union between a man and a woman. It would overturn a recent California Supreme Court decision that had recognized same-sex marriage in California as a fundamental right. The official ballot title language for Proposition 8 is “Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry.” The entirety of the text to be added to the constitution is: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”

The campaigns for and against Proposition 8 raised $35.8 million and $37.6 million, respectively, becoming the highest-funded campaign on any state ballot that day and surpassing every campaign in the country in spending except the presidential contest. The proponents argued for exclusively heterosexual marriage while claiming that failure to change the constitution would require changes to school curriculum and threaten church tax benefits. The opponents argued that eliminating the rights of any Californian and mandating that one group of people be treated differently from everyone else was unfair and wrong.

My Thoughts:

The question is; what should I believe in; where should my allegiance lie? I am a believer/Christian; I’m not Gay; I am young; maybe quite foolish and I am starting to realize how little I know and understand of this life, this world, this planet but I want to learn and I want to understand. I want to know what to fight for; what to tolerate and accept. I want to know and understand to what to say yes and what to say no. I want to make choices not for my religion; my friends; my mother; my father but for me; for the woman God created me to be; the woman with her own mind; her own emotions; her own perspective; her own understanding.

So about homosexuality; I don’t have a strong opinion or a strong desire to convert a homosexual into a heterosexual God-fearing “decent” member of society. Even though my “religion” says I should. The topic (homosexuality) came up in discussion earlier this year with a Christian friend of mine and I told her what I just told you; I don’t have a strong opinion on the matter; I am not for or against it; I don’t have a strong desire to change someone who is Gay and “fix them;” that’s not my ministry; I wouldn’t know how and I don’t know if I could.

I told her; my religion does not permit me to believe in homosexuality and I don’t but I do believe in love; I am not sure if I could look someone in their face and tell them that what they love and who they love is wrong. I can’t do it. I can’t imagine someone saying to me that I can’t love who I love; it’s not right.

About same-sex marriage; how do I feel about that? If I had to vote on it; yes or no; what would I do? How would I vote? What side would I choose? I am not sure. I don’t know the full extant of this Proposition or what would be the outcome for either side. I am not in California; I haven’t seen either argument but I believe none of us should force our lifestyles or beliefs on each other. America is a democratic country and people shouldn’t be forced to do what they don’t want to do or what they don’t believe in. I heard two arguments on the opposing side of Gay marriage; Christian Leaders say they could be sued if they don’t marry same-sex couples; I don’t think that’s right; it also said that same-sex marriages could be taught to our children in Schools without parents consent; I don’t think that’s right either but I do think children of this world; of this time; need to be taught the truths of this world; what’s really happening and don’t be like me; wake up at twenty-six years old and realize that you know less then 1% of what’s going on in the world around you. Knowledge is power and we need to be educated so that we won’t be taken advantage of and trampled on. So we know the difference between right and wrong and make it into Heaven.

So what do I believe; I believe in love; acceptance; tolerance; faith; understanding; living to our fullest potential; letting our true self shine; I believe the absence of love is a bigger sin than any other sin out there. I believe the world has changed but it’s basically the same whether we like it or not. We have to know what we believe; we have to take control of what we teach our children; we have to love each other; respect our differences and work towards peace among brethren. I know, foolish naive me still have so much to learn.

However; I believe it is God’s responsibility to judge us when we leave this earth; it is not my or your responsibility to judge or condemn people on this earth; we have to love them; accept them; respect them; reach out to them; teach them; let them go; forgive them. I believe God gave us the right as human beings to make our own choices of how to live and what we live for; and for as long as he has created the earth; man have been forcing their beliefs on each other.

I know these are strong words and really, I know; I don’t know anything at all but I want to learn and I want to understand; I want to know for what to fight; what to say yes to and what to say no; what to tolerate and where to draw the line. I will pray God gives me an understanding of this life; this world; this planet; this universe and that he gives me a true and deep understanding of his word and of myself. Meanwhile; I don’t choose a side; I choose love.

Yesterday was officially the final day of summer for 2008. I couldn’t ask for a better ending; this had to be one of the best days I have had in a very long time and not necessarily because of the grandeur of what I did or who I was with; so much as it was because a heavy weight has been lifted and it’s up to me to keep it off.

So what happened? You wonder; hold your horses, I’m getting there. Well, it was a friend of mine’s special day, her birthday. She turned 27 years old. So the night before, I made her a real spectacular birthday card, if I do say so myself and an awesome poem, which I will share with you in a moment. In the morning of her big day, she came downstairs to my apartment (she lives above me) for the birthday breakfast I made her; it was scramble eggs, plantain, bacon and a banana and grapes on the side. She loved it. Then we went to the 12:30 service at her church. I was very excited about that because I have not been to church in a year and I was really missing it. The message was about “Taking Possession” of the gifts God gives you and it really spoke to my heart. We read Joshua 1:6. It goes like this: “Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them.

Here a list of some of the points I jotted down:

? Today is the day you can begin again, yesterday is gone

? When you fall, get back up again

? God is a dream giver, a dream releaser, a promise giver, gift-giver, take possession

? God wants you to keep moving forward (then he drew reference to the Disney movie Meet the Robinsons)

? Before you can receive God’s prophetic promise; you have to change your identity; speak a faith language, be obedient, be a servant

? God is a God of process and progression

? When you are faithful over little God will make you ruler over much
? If you want to Thank me (God), live your life, do what I called you to do

? Think big, dream big, expect the supernatural, expect great things

And there you have it; he spoke my language and I understood.

After church, we had lunch at a Cantonese/Polynesian restaurant called Cathay Pacific. I had fun, even though I did not fully enjoy the food or service. I am not a huge fan of Asian cuisine. Speaking of huge fan; Tyler Perry’s stage play The Marriage Counselor is coming to ****** (where I am); unfortunately it’ll only be here for the upcoming weekend and I have no money to go; as usual; but I am believing in God to take me places and make my dreams big or small come true, so I’ll pray about it and leave it up to him but how cool would that be; my first ever seen stage play in America happens to be produced but one of the famous people I look up to most in this world. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Anyway; after dinner at the restaurant we went to a bowling alley; my second bowling experience ever. The first one did not go to well for me personally; I was so tense and scared (anxiety) that I did not play very well at all but I made up for it last night. I relaxed, I let loose, I did a victory dance, I smile, I laughed, I sang, I posed for pictures, I knocked down some pins every once in a while and I got two strikes (can you believe it) I was so happy and I want to retain that feeling, I want to be in that place every day of my life, every moment, no matter what’s going on around me. That’s what I am shooting for. So what a day; what a day; what a wonderful day. May God grant you and me many, many, many more with the people we love.

Here is my wonderful poems and wish for you my readers and potential friends:

To Dionne

To a very special person

On a very special day

May God bless you, protect you and guide you

I pray

May all your dreams be realized

May the desires of your heart be fulfilled

May you always know love, joy, happiness, success

May those things be God’s will

May you reach for the stars

May you spread your wings and soar

May you fly so very high

Forever more

May your nights be filled with sweet dreams

And your days, with lots of laughter

May you always be surrounded by great people

May you live happily ever after

May you live a life that’s full and true

Lots of adventures, good times, happiness, music, song, dance, art,

Good food, good fun, good friends, good books, good conversation,

Learning new things, travel, love, joy, happiness, goodness, blessings, success

The best this life has to offer

The greatest gifts God has in store

Look through every open window, walk through every door

Open your heart, open your mind

Let love and life in

Face your fears, stand up tall

Use your BIG VOICE

Let them all hear you when you call

Whatever you need to make it through is already right there inside you

Keep moving forward

Don’t quit

Keep stepping up

Keep on keeping on

You can do it

You are strong, confident, intelligent,

You are a woman of the world and a child of the Most High

I believe in impossible dreams

I believe in miracles too

I believe you can accomplish anything

I believe in you

I believe the sky is the limit

I believe the stars are in your reach

I believe life’s what you make it

So learn, so you can teach

Stand up tall, be the boss of your own destiny

All you need is already in you

Be everything you are meant to be

Open your ears and hear

Open your eyes and see

Believe in dreams because they believe in you

Never let your dreams fade away

Keep stepping forward, you’ll make it through

Sometimes, sometimes you will fall

Get right back up, be strong, and don’t give up

Give it your best shot, give it your all

Whether you win or lose

It’s up to you, it’s your call

Victory is your destiny

Greatness is in your anatomy

Quote on Dreams from Tyler Perry (e-mail message)

I am a dreamer and sometimes when you have dreams you are met with
obstacles, and your dreams will start to fade. But what I’ve found is that
when God has given you a dream, no matter what it is, when you want to
give up and believing becomes hard, and when you can’t go any further, the
dream itself will start to believe for you. The dream itself will start to
carry you through with visions and hope and encouragement.

So, the new mantra for Tyler Perry Studios is “A Place Where Even Dreams
Believe.” Don’t worry if you’re met with opposition on your path to your
goals. When you’ve done all you can, stand and surrender. God will allow
your dream to motivate you.

If you don’t take away anything else from this LONG email take this,
PLEASE TAKE THIS. Protect your dreams, get away from negative thinking
dark seekers. Keep your mind and spirit clean of the naysayers. Just
believe. Only believe and it will come to pass.

Be Blessed,

Yo Boy
