I just wanted to give a short shout-out to asklatisha.com today; it’s exactly one year ago today I started posting on my blog. I am very proud; at present I have 104 post and 52 comments (hope to drastically improve that number next year); make that 105 post including this one.
Happy Birthday, AskLatisha.com.
I wanted to write more but I just finished writing a long review for the “Twilight” movie, I know, finally right?! So, I’ll keep it brief. This morning, I’m going to church; later I may chat with my mom on Skype, talk about my week of ups and downs; maybe leave home, maybe not. I had a good week and a lot to be thankful for; I have an interesting week ahead and I have a lot to hope and pray for. So pray for me and I’ll pray for you; pray for the continued growth and success of AskLatisha.com. Love you, have a great day, week, month and God bless you!

Last Saturday morning (a lovely day); the Men’s Fellowship at my Church hosted a prayer breakfast; the décor was gorgeous; the food look absolutely scrumptious, made me wish I had a bigger mouth; my husband played the sax (song- “Nothing but the love of Jesus”); we prayed for the youth, we prayed for leadership, we prayed for our community; we prayed for our Church and so much more.
We also had a speaker from another church who spoke a message which he entitled “It Pays to Pray.” He used the word “HAT,” as an illustration of his message; pray is your protection and covering; just as a hat covers and protects your head; and the word “HAT’’ also stood for; when you pray; “God hears you; God answers you; and you will have a miraculous testimony.” We also sang beautiful songs like “Blessed Assurance,” “Count Your Blessings” and others. I think the lyrics of the song “Count your Blessings” are so simple yet so true and these words shouldn’t be forgotten when times are tough. Please take in these lyrics with me:
Count Your Blessings
1. When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
o Refrain:
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
*Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.
[*And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.]
2. Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.
3. When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings—wealth can never buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.
4. So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
What a lovely morning it was.
I absolutely love this video, this song and these lyrics. So enjoy! Hope you like it too. Rock on!
Good Morning Friends,
How are you today? It’s a lovely day isn’t it? I am thankful, that God has woken me and my love ones up another morning. Today is the beginning of a new day; a new chance to defeat the enemy’s attacks on our soul. I don’t know about you but I get attacked everyday, through the weakest, most vulnerable areas of my life. So I grasped all the positive and encouraging messages I can get my hands on, daily. That includes a daily message from one of my most favorite Pastors in the world; Joel Osteen. Here is the message, his ministry sent straight to my e-mail inbox, this morning: Read the rest of this entry »
As far as good Christmases go; this Christmas; my Christmas; has to rank up there with the great ones. It was messy, disorganized, behind schedule, emotional, loud and other similar characteristics. Basically it was as imperfect as a Christmas season could be and I have never experienced one quite like this before. However, I am very glad that it went the way it went because I don’t think there are better examples of what Christmas and life is about. Real life is messy, unpredictable and unbalanced; especially when you have a two year old in the midst. Read the rest of this entry »
There is an element to my personality that God has molded in me; that I am very thankful for. I am so in tune with my emotions. I feel things; I feel love; compassion; happiness; sadness and I sometimes get so overwhelmed by the magnificence of God’s wonderful world and people; that tears of gratitude seep from my eyes. I love to feel because these true emotions make me feel so alive.
Yesterday was officially the final day of summer for 2008. I couldn’t ask for a better ending; this had to be one of the best days I have had in a very long time and not necessarily because of the grandeur of what I did or who I was with; so much as it was because a heavy weight has been lifted and it’s up to me to keep it off. So, I have finally arrived, the place I’ve been praying to be, for over a year now. One of my many short-term goals has been realized and I am so grateful to my Father for bringing me to this place. Being here has helped me to understand something I have already known in my heart of heart.
Good Morning, Friends
Today is my 26th Birthday and it is a little quiet today; no big deal; nothing spectacular on the rise. It’s just a day like any other with the exception of a few very sweet birthday greetings and well wishes. I am happy to be here another day and I am grateful to God for my last twenty-five years of life.
The bible says in Ecclesiastes 3: 1-2 (KJV); “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;” and the chapter goes on to list various seasons in one’s life. It also goes on to say in verse 12 and 13; “I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God.”
Eat, drink, do good things, be good to others and be merry; that is the responsibility of man, which is God’s gift to us; something that very few on this earth have come to understand but it is a message God has imprinted on my heart long before I came to be the young woman I am now.
