Every week it’s like you don’t really want to see anyone go because they are so good. I have already lost two favorites that I would have like to see more of, Hip-Hop Dancer Robert and Tap Dancer Nick.

I thought some of the guest Judges this year, seemed like strange choices to judge this kind of dance show and even though they are funny chicks ( Megan Mullally, Debbie Reynolds, Kristen Chenoweth) and it was funny at times to listen to their input. I thought they did not really have anything useful to say that could help cultivate the dancers, kind of like Ellen as Judge on American Idol.

I am so glad Mary Murphy and the Top 20 is back this season, I truly missed them both last Season, but I am glad the show is going half and half, keeping both the Allstar edition of the show and the Top 20. I don’t really have a favorite to win as yet, but whoever does ultimately win will deserve it because they are all incredible dancers. I can also say, I think the lone Broadway dancer  on the show Jess has a real Broadway/movie star power about him, as do Robert and Nick (both eliminated). They are all round entertainers. I also think Tadd, Jordan and Sasha are awesome. I think Clarice is very beautiful, and Marko and Melani make a great coupling. What do you think?

A few years prior, the community  was rocked by a tragic accident that killed five teenagers after a night out and  Bomont’s local councilmen and the beloved Reverend Shaw Moore (Dennis Quaid)  responded by implementing ordinances that prohibit loud music and dancing. Not  one to bow to the status quo, Ren challenges the ban, revitalizing the town and  falling in love with the minister’s troubled daughter Ariel (Julianne Hough) in  the process.

Are you watching Season Six of MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew? I am. Which group are you rooting for? I’d say the two groups I am rooting for right now are “I Am Me” which includes Phillip “Pacman” Chbeeb, who I recognized from Season Five So You Think You Can Dance, as well as, Iconic Boyz, they are very good dancers.

They are both very fun and creative routines. I would have like to see more of Request crew, but all girl crews never seem to make it that far on this show, not enough stunts and the fact that they are not even from America or North America for that matter, did not help their case any.

            So I finally set Fox reality dance show; “ So, you think you can dance,” to record on my DVR last week; picking up from the Top 18 dancers; I am not into all that audition stuff; I missed the first performance show; how I missed that; I don’t know; anyway….. I took mental notes for my blog; so I could share Youtube (I love Youtube) videos of my some of my favorite dances or dancers; but unfortunately this time around they weren’t really any.

However; of course, some dances did stand out more than others; for instance; I thought Asuka (Kondoh) and Vitolio (Jeune)’s Waltz was really beautiful and emotionally caressing and the absolutely riveting Enya music playing in the background, certainly did not hurt the routine either; it was sweet how that dance moved judge Mary Murphy to tears. Karla (Garcia) and Jonathan (Platero)’s dance choreographed by Canadian choreographer Stacy Tookey was also very pretty.

Melissa and Ade’s Sonja Tayeh (a real unique individual) Jazz routine was a real attention-grabbing physically challenged routine; it rocked and it made me desire to get up and dance; according to Judge and Choreographer Lil’C, “That was bucc.”

Brandon and Janette’s Disco was really fast paste and I thought it was a cool routine; don’t cha yah wish you could dance like that, don’t cha? I do, I do; maybe someday.

I thought Shane Sparks’ choreography ideas were cool and would have been highly recieved if the dancers were able to really pull them off; however; I didn’t think Ashley; who partnered with Kupono; wasn’t bad at all, maybe as a routine and as a team they didn’t work; but I thought she really shake those Hips and I was disappointed she got sent home so soon; I wanted to see more of her, I also think she is really pretty (looks a little like Rachel Leigh Cook to me); too bad. Maybe somebody will leave the show and they’ll bring her back for a second try; I think it was her solo routine (lack of content) that did her in; and somehow; I knew Max would have been the one (male) to go;  he was not only competing against dancing skills but personalities as well. His personality did not have a powerful presence to me; i just don’t think he stood a chance.

Fame (the original)

 fame_movie_image__3_In preparation for the big screen premiere of “Fame” remake, September 25th; I decided to watch the original; yes, that would be my first time seeing it. I assumed Debbie Allen had a bigger role in this film; nevertheless this movie was very entertaining, at times funny, at times sweet but it really felt incomplete to me in the end; after following a synopsis of the main character’s lives over a four-year span during their time at this Liberal Arts school in New York; I expected a close to their stories; a glimpse of their futures after graduation; this ending felt unfinished and unsatisfactory; even the graduation scene did not appease me for my time; not a single story had an ending; no questions answered; no resolutions; nothing but an incomplete story. I hope the remake does a better job of giving us something take with us; other than an awesome soundtrack and temporary entertainment of dance, music and song.

 

Footloose Remake

JulianneHoughIn other dancing news; Dancing with the Stars Pro Julianne Hough was offered the lead in another upcoming musical/dance remake “Footloose,” set to come out in 2010, alongside Chase Crawford (a role that was originally offered to High School Musical star Zac Efron); after (so I heard) auditioning against more experienced actresses like Hayden Panetierre and Amanda Bynes. You, go, girl. When I initially heard who was auditioning for the part and I really hoped Julianne would be the one to get it, I think she’ll be great in the part, she is brand spanking new in that part of the Biz, which is always exciting; she is a great dancer and singer, she is beautiful; this will be totally awesome for her career and I am looking forward to seeing this film in 2010,; if God spares my life.

Dancing with Stars- Season Eight- Top Three

 Speaking of Dancing with the Stars; here are some updates of what’s next on the agenda for Season Eight contenders and pro-dancers.

Apparently; 17-year-old Gymnast Shawn Johnson; Season Eight Champion is mulling over taking the lead role in a kid’s flick; that’s all I know; oh and the Disco Ball Trophy is or was in the repair shop; apparently it got broken during a shipment from New York.

            First runner-up and hot French actor from the “Sex and the City” movie Gilles Marini gets naughty on t.v series Nip/Tuck as somebody’s (Erica) sexy younger bad-boy husband.

           MelissaRycroft Second runner-up Melissa Rycroft is apparently joining the cast of “Good Morning, America;” serving as a special contributor (for now) delivering uplifting, summer-type pieces (tvguide.com). Somebody (God) must be really looking out for this girl and her future. She may have stumbled on an accidental career, unlike Deanna Pappas, who in my opinion wants it bad. I am happy for her and very proud. Go, Melissa, go; I am looking forward to seeing you on GMA and I promise I’ll watch.

           maksimmaksimkarinaIn other news (not that I care); Pro-Dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy a.k.a “the bad boy of ballroom” will be one of the celebrities on new reality series “The Superstars.” Speaking of Maksim; he and his fiancé Karina Smirnoff (who have been dating for about a year) have landed their own reality series; another one of those “come watch my dramatic life as I prepare for my wedding and advance my career” reality shows; so how long do you think this marriage is going to last? (in my opinion, not long at all) Anyway, I am really not a fan of either dancers, so I probably won’t watch. Will you?

How are you? I’m alright, just here trying to understand life and adulthood, maybe I make it more complicated than it really is or maybe it is more complicated than I can even imagine, but for right now, I am twenty-six years old and I know I got a lot more to understand, a whole lot more growing to do and a whole lot more experiences, good or bad, to be had. Pray for my journey, as I yours.

            Anyway, yesterday I took my sister downtown to the cinema and park, my favorite places to go to (the cinema and park). It was her first time on a train and she really had a great time, I was happy that I was able to do that, even though at times it was a little exhausting for me because I am unfit and pregnant. I promised God if he helps me through this pregnancy, I’ll do better with my life and health in the New Year. That’s not to say, I wouldn’t try to do what I can right now, but seeing as I am pregnant, there is only so much I can do.

            The cinema was expensive; I haven’t been there in so long but damn; last time I watched a 3D movie, I paid $8.00 to see it; this time around it was $12.00 each, I left home with $50.00; and ended up spending $24.00 to see the movie UP in 3D, which was awesome, mind you, and about $14.00 at the concession stand for a bottled water, medium drink and a large popcorn. It barely left me with enough money to buy lunch; we split a $5.00 foot long (a Sub) at Subway. I introduced her to the way I eat my Subway; Honey Oat bread, ham, American cheese, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, pickle, jalapeños, olives, honey mustard, etc. It’s yummy; she told me she liked it even though she doesn’t like vegetables. Anyway, I didn’t say all that to sound like I am complaining; I was really glad to go to the movies with my sis, who I haven’t seen in almost two years, but it disappoints me how expensive things have gotten, the solution to the recession; raise prices, lay-off employees and raise taxes. Yeah, that’ll work. I pray God helps us all through this because life isn’t worth living, if you can’t have fun. I for one love going to the movies and missed it very much and I really wish it wasn’t such an expensive treat.

            poster1Speaking of movies; I know one I would really like to see September 25th; it’s a dance/musical movie and a sort of remake; yup; you guessed it; FAME; right up my alley. So if God spares my life and blesses my finances that I can afford it; I’ll be taking my big pregnant (by then, I’ll be about 9 mposter2onths along) belly to the cinema Sep 25th. To bad my mom will be gone by then and we can’t go together. I’d love that, if we could. I wonder if she’d like to see it too. Well; I came online today to do a little research for another post I was going to write; but I came across an article on Yahoo; about shows in danger of being canceled. Well; three shows I really like was on that list. “Opportunity Knocks;” the first game show I ever loved; has been pulled off the air; after only three showings; my husband liked that game show too. “Pushing Daisies” is in danger and “Valentine” has a high probability of being axed.

            “The Ex-List” has been canceled; which is pretty convenient; because I only decided yesterday; that this show is not for me.

            Now off the topic of being bummed. Truth is; I find it very interesting the direction the show “Heroes” is going in; it’s tweaked my curiosity to stick around a bit longer and see what happens. The Character Megan broke up with her dull and turned-out cheater boyfriend on the new show “Privileged” which shows on Tuesday nights on The CW.  The character Hilda broke up with her son’s married coach on “Ugly Betty;” as well as Lindsay Lohan turned up the heat for character Betty Suarez in the episode “ Granny Pants;” she put the “MEAN” in “MEAN GIRL.”

             I was not fulfilled by the second episode of t.v fave “Eli Stone” titled “Grace;” it just did not add anything to Eli’s story for me; it left me empty and unsatisfied. It felt like it was just an episode written specifically to accommodate Katie Holmes as a part of the show; as oppose to one written for the good of Eli’s journey and the series. It felt like a slight detour to me. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed Katie’s musical number and I still think she is cute.

            Are any of you guys; “Dancing with the Stars” fans? Did you see the performance of Cloris Leachman last night? Please America, free the woman; playtime is over; let her go home and get some rest. I want to see some real dancing. P.S- I like the group Hip-Hop routine; it would have been almost perfect; if Cloris and Susan Lucci weren’t in it. You know what I’d like to happen tonight on the result show; I would like them to send home Susan Lucci (who I loved in the Lifetime Christmas movie Ebbie-by the way); then next week find an excuse to replace Cloris with Toni Braxton; that’ll be an awesome twist.

            Anyway; I know most of you guys can’t even relate to this post because you don’t know these shows and what I am talking about but thanks for letting me write through my bumness I feel so much better. Now I can write what I intended to in the first place. By the way; those who do watch as much t.v as I do and know what I am talking about please comment; that’ll make my day; to know they are more of me (t.v freaks) out there. I am thinking of boycotting all new shows next season. It just breaks your heart; when these flings don’t last.
