“The Christmas Bus” Book Review
Book Review “The Christmas Bus” written by Christian author Melody Carlson
In the beginning of this novel, before the story even begins, the author quotes this bible verse: “Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. 2 Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13: 1-2.
So what did I think of this book? I liked it. From the very beginning, it peek my interest. It didn’t start out slow to me at all. I was already intrigued.
This novel was written from the perspective of a Bed and Breakfast owner Edith Ryan, she is a Pastor’s wife and she has four grown married children. Edith lives in a Christmas all year round quaint little town called “Christmas Valley.” Where all the businesses are Christmas themed and named after something relating to the holiday, e.g, The North Pole Coffee Shop, Mrs. Santa’s Diner, Shepherd’s Inn Bed and Breakfast, etc. Read the rest of this entry »

Its smack dab in the middle of the year, month six, July and this is when I often start to regain my anticipation about the holidays. I’m ready to start thinking about Christmas again and every once in a while listen to some holiday music or watch a holiday movie and get into the Christmas spirit again.

Christmas at Harrington’s by Melody Carlson-Book Review
This is the first Christmas novel I have read by Melody Carlson, so I didn’t really know what to expect. I have lots of books on my “to read list,” but this was the only fiction I had. I bought it late December last year and didn’t get a chance to read it before my Christmas spirit wore off. So in the month of June, I was feeling in the mood for some light fictitious reading, so I said what the heck, it’s my book and I can read it anytime of the year I wanted. There is no rule that says you only read Christmas novels at Christmastime.
The Book and the Rose
The Book and the Rose
A Short film based on the short story written by Max Lucado entitled “The People with Roses” found in the book “And the Angels were Silent” by Max Lucado.
I watched this short film on TBN last night, and found it to be a very beautiful story that truly came together and exerted its significance at the very end.
Excerpts from Joyce Meyer’s The Confident Woman
I am not as confident a woman as I’d like to be. I’m still trying to figure a lot of stuff out; like how to be the woman God designed me to be; how to pursue excellence in the way I live my life, the way I raise my children, as a wife, a writer, a woman in ministry and whatever else I set out to do with my life.
I thought this book might offer some inspiration and help me in my quest to be a confident woman, mother, wife and leader. So far I have read the first four chapters. So here are some excerpts here and there, that I have absorb from what I read so far.
To Save a Life Book Review
Last week I stole as many moments as I could entranced in this book’s tale. Those who know me would know I don’t often do that unless the book has got me hooked in a very big way and I eagerly want to know how the story ends.
You know they say “you could be whoever you want to be or go wherever you want to go, through the pages of a book.” That’s why my heart desires to be a writer, a perfect occupation for a big dreamer such as myself. However sometimes those words don’t always ring true for me, sometimes a book is just a book and fiction is just that, fiction.
Not this time, this time it felt real. I identified with what each character was feeling and experiencing. I felt a part of the journey, like this story was playing out in front my face. Just like the boy Bastian Bux from “The NeverEnding Story” following the boy warrior Atreyu’s expedition through Fantasia to find a cure for the childlike Empress’s illness. I love when a book comes alive like that for me. It is completely satisfying. Read the rest of this entry »
REviEWs
Here are some reviews I wrote a while back but never got around to posting:
Words of a Poetriot by L.J.G.B
This is a book filled with poems I wrote all through the different phases of my teenage life. As an adolescent; from the time I realized I had a knack for poetic expression I dreamt of publishing my own poetry book and sharing my thoughts and words with the world. I still dream of the day when someone would read something I wrote and say to me; those words encouraged, motivated, inspired me or that they did not know that someone else was experiencing what they were. Initially my dream was to be a fashion designer but when I realized I hate Clothing and Textiles and I am not so bad at the written word, my dream changed. Read the rest of this entry »
